Super League Odds explained

Match Result Betting (3-way)

Here, one is betting on a Super League match result; a Home Team victory, a draw, or an Away Team victory - there is no handicap.  Favorites and underdogs are determined solely by the odds pricing.  At some sportsbooks, you may see this presented in a 1X2 format similar to football match betting.

Handicap (3-way)

For the Super League, the Point Spread is the most popular type of handicap betting.  The Point Spread is an effort by the odds maker to set prices that are similar for both potential outcomes.  The Point Spread is a point handicap that essentially means that the match does not start at a 0-0 score.  The favoured team must score enough points to overcome this handicap in order to be declared the winner.  From the perspective of the underdog, the handicap may be viewed as a head start on points toward winning the match.  For example if the spread is 11 points, the favoured team will need to win by at least 12 points for a bet on them to be considered a winning bet.  The underdog can lose the match by as many as 10 points and still be considered to have won the bet.  If the match ends with a point differential that matches the handicap, right on 12 points, the result for wagering purposes is considered a draw.

OddsJet helps to find the ideal handicap to suit any opinion on any Super League match in addition to the best odds price.  Click the ‘+’ button associated with a given match on the events schedule and a window will open that displays all the different handicaps, in order, from all our sportsbook companies.

Super League odds expressed in American, Decimal and Fractional Formats

For American odds format, keep in mind the difference between positive and negative expressions.  Odds below even-money are always listed with a negative number.  When negative, the odds price expresses how much one needs to wager in order to return a profit of €100.  For example, if the Wigan Warriors are favoured heavily to win a match, one might see a figure of -225.  This means that a stake of €225 is required for a potential profit of €100 and a total potential return of €325.  When one sees a positive odds price, the odds are above even-money and express how much profit one might gain with a wager of €100.  At +130 on the Warrington Wolves, a winning bet of €100 would return €130 in profit for a total return of €230.  Note that although the American odds format centres on the figure of €100, this is purely for expression and is not a restriction in any way on the amount that may be staked.

For Decimal odds format, simply multiply the stake amount by the decimal odds price to see the full amount that would be returned on a win including the stake amount.  For example, if one wagered €50 on St. Helens at a price of 1.54, the total potential return would be €77, a profit of €27.  The first 1.00 in decimal odds always represent your potential returned stake.

For Fractional odds format, the expressed odds price represents the potential profit return that will be achieved as multiplied by the stake amount.  To calculate the potential profit, simply divide the numerator by the denominator, and then multiply this value by the stake amount.  For example, a bet of €20 on the Leeds Rhinos at an odds price of 3/4 (said three-to-four) could return a profit of €15.00 for a total return of €35. (3 divided by 4, multiplied by €20 = €15 profit).
