Examples of World Series odds expressed in American, Decimal and Fractional formats

For American odds format, there are two sets of expressions to remember, but both involve the figure of NOK 100. First, negative numbers express how much one needs to wager in order to win a profit of NOK 100.  However, given how many teams have a chance to win the World Series and the nature of the expanded playoffs, rarely would any team be such a heavy favorite that their odds would be below even-money.  Most odds will be above even-money and thus will be a positive figure, expressing how much potential profit would be returned for a bet of NOK 100.   For example, when you see odds of +360 on Toronto to win outright, you would need to stake NOK 100 in order to receive a profit of NOK 360, yielding a total return of NOK 460.

With Decimal odds format, the odds express the full potential amount that will be returned on your wager including the stake amount.  For this, simply multiply the Decimal odds by the stake. For example, if Washington is listed at 6.50 to win the World Series, a NOK 100 bet would return a total of NOK 650 including your stake, so the potential profit would be NOK 550. 

For Fractional format, the odds express the amount of potential profit that will be returned on a wager.  For example, with a wager of NOK 100 and odds of 16/1 on Cincinnati to win outright (said 16 to 1), one could see a profit of NOK 1,600 (16 divided by 1, multiplied by NOK 100) plus the stake amount for a total potential return of NOK 1,700.
